The proximity of the institutions to one another, coupled with a fare-free bus system, make possible a viable and vibrant community of five campuses, each with a different culture and identity. Students commonly travel to the other campuses, to take a course, use the libraries, attend a lecture or performance, see an exhibition, or just to meet friends. Faculty and staff similarly enjoy being part of a Five College community with five times the number of colleagues and events.

An online Five College Calendar of Events furnishes a handy overview of all that's happening on the campuses. For users' convenience, the calendar is searchable by date, type of event, or title of event, etc. Users may also ask the calendar to send e-mail "reminders" about types of events of interest to them.
