Five College staff
Day-to-day operations of Five Colleges are carried out by the following staff, most of whom may be reached at the Five College center at 97 Spring Street in Amherst, MA 01002. Click on their names to send them email or call them at (413) 256-8316.

Neal B. AbrahamNeal B. Abraham, executive director, is responsible for the oversight of all consortial activity. He meets regularly with, and is a member of the Five College Board of Directors. He also meets with the chief academic officers (Five College Deans), the Principal Business Officers (PBOs), the Librarians Council, the Principal Student Affairs Officers (PSAOs) and other academic and administrative groups.

Carol AlemanCarol Aleman is assistant to the executive director and coordinates communication with Five College Associates.

Jean Baxter is dance production manager in the Five College Dance Department, with offices at Mount Holyoke College.

Robert A. Bowell, Jr. is support specialist for Five Colleges information technology.

Cynthia Bright is program coordinator for the Five College Coastal and Marine Sciences Program, with offices at Smith College.

Melinda Buckwalter is administrative assistant for the Five College Center for East Asian Studies at Smith College.

Sharon Cady-Harrison is administrative assistant for academic programs and communications.

Elizabeth Carmichael is director for compliance and risk management, convening Five College groups for risk management and captive insurance, with offices at Mount Holyoke College.

Maria Cartagena is Five College Community Partnership coordinator.

Alexandra deMontrichard is program coordinator for Museums 10, communications, and various academic programs.

Sue Dickman is academic programs liaison to the Five College Joint Appointment program, post-doctoral appointments and other academic programs.

Nancy Eckert is business office coordinator and handles central communications as well as the scheduling and catering arrangements for all meetings at the Five College center.

Gretchen Fiordalice is assistant program administrator for the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages.

Nancy Goff, is director of development and is responsible for all grant activities within the consortium. She convenes the chief foundation officers, the corporate and foundation officers, and several grant-related committees.

Kyla Hakim develops special projects for advising and information resources for the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages.

Ida Hay is depository assistant for the Five College library system.

Beth Hooker is the sustainability programs coordinator who coordinates the development of academic sustainability programs including the Five College Certificate in Sustainability, Environmental Studies initiatives, and related internships. Professor Hooker is also visiting assistant professor of environmental studies at Mount Holyoke College.

Kevin KennedyKevin Kennedy, director of communications, is Five College Inc.'s public relations officer and responds to general inquiries about the consortium and its programs. Working with the Five College graphic designer, he is responsible for all published materials for the consortium and for the Five College Web site. His administrative responsibilities include collaboration in recruiting students and in student affairs and work with Five College committees in areas such as art, admissions and museum collaboration. He also serves in an advisory capacity to the Five College Student Coordinating Board.

Linda Kurowski is depository associate for the Five College library system.

Elizabeth (E.B.) Lehman is assistant director for the Women’s Studies Research Center at Mount Holyoke College and manages the Center’s daily operations, working in collaboration with Five College faculty and the Center’s academic director and advisory board.

Barbara Lucey, treasurer, is responsible for all financial and administrative aspects of consortial activity, including preparation of the Five College budget. She serves as liaison and lead investigator for administrative areas of Five College collaboration. She convenes and moderates the meetings of the Principal Business Officers, the Human Resource Directors, and other administrative groups as well as the committees overseeing Five Colleges’ investments and audit. Along with Neal B. Abraham, she is a manager of Five College Net, LLC.

Julie Martyn is Five College staff accountant.

Yvette Morneau, CPA, is business manager. She prepares Five Colleges, Inc.’s financial statements, audit materials, and tax-related filings. She supervises Five College accounting and the business office as well as convening the Emergency Management, Health, and Public Safety group and serving as a liaison to the Five College Learning in Retirement program.

Gwendolyn Niven is the dance production assistant in the Five College Dance Department with offices at Mount Holyoke College.

Stephen C. O'Neil is an insurance and claims specialist working with compliance and risk management, with an office at Mount Holyoke College.

Caroline (Callie) Orszak is program coordinator for the Five College Learning in Retirement Program with offices at Smith College.

Anne Prescott is the director of the Five College Center for East Asian Studies at Smith College. She manages programs to support teaching about Asia in K-12 schools and builds relationships among faculty members and programs at the college level. Anne also leads study tours to East Asia.

Robyn Rodman is the graphic designer for all Five College publications and webmaster. She also coordinates the Five College Calendar of Events.

Nate TherienNate Therien, director for academic programs, staffs a number of academic councils and committees, including the certificate programs in African studies and Asian/Pacific/American studies, and the East Asian languages program. He also oversees two key funds supporting collaborative activity, the Faculty Seminar Fund and the Lecture Fund, and facilitates new projects. Through meetings with the registrars, he monitors the interchange and assists in coordinating the Five College Academic Calendar.

Rebecca Thomas is program assistant for the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages.

M. Sue ThrasherM. Sue Thrasher is the Five College Schools Partnership coordinator who builds and maintains relationships among school teachers and administrators in the Pioneer Valley and faculty members and administrators at the Five College consortium.

Betty Thurston is administrative assistant for the Five College Dance Department, with offices at Hampshire College.

Maria Toyofuku is director of information technology for Five Colleges, Incorporated and its subsidiary Five College Net, LLC. She works closely with IT leaders from the member institutions of the consortium.

Dora Tudryn is Five College messenger.

Amy Wordelman is associate director of the Five College Center for the Study of World Languages. She oversees technical support and resources as well as managing the administrative, program, and advising operations for the Center.
