Cross Registration
Guidelines
Generally, a student may take through the interchange any of the 6,000 undergraduate courses offered at the five institutions, so long as the course falls within the field of liberal arts as defined by the students' home campus.
(Normally students do not begin taking courses through the interchange until after the first semester of freshman year.)
Regulations
Students taking a course through the interchange are subject to the academic regulations of the hosting campus.
It is the responsibility of the student to be familiar with the pertinent regulations of the host institution, including those for attendance, academic honesty, grading options (including incompletes), and deadlines for completing coursework and taking examinations (see links below).
Exception: Students follow the registration add/drop deadlines of their home institutions
Procedures
Procedures for cross registration are handled through the registration office of the student's home campus and vary among campuses (see links below). Students will be notified by their home registrar whether their request has been approved or denied. Final grades are transmitted from the host campus, where the course was given, to be recorded on the student's home campus transcript.
Students requesting to enroll in a five-college course must agree to the following:
- If permission is required, consult with the instructor to determine admissibility and provide proof of instructor approval according to the home campus registrar’s policy.
- Make arrangements to complete work missed due to calendar differences between institutions.
Procedures for requesting a five-college course may differ between registration and add/drop periods. It is the student’s responsibility to check the host institution’s policies (see below).
