Faculty Exchange
Faculty exchange affords a number of advantages to those who avail themselves of it, including the chance to get to know colleagues at another campus and to experience teaching at a different institution. From an institutional perspective, faculty exchange enables departments to enrich curricular options by drawing on expertise at the other campuses, as well as to address temporary staffing needs.

One-for-One Exchange
. . . between departments, which results in the course load remaining the same;

Overtime Borrowing
. . . for which the borrowing institution provides compensation to the faculty member;

Released-Time Borrowing
. . . for which the borrowing institution reimburses the lending one.

All exchanges are initiated by the borrowing department and must be approved by the dean of the borrowing and lending institutions.

Faculty may agree to teach or advise graduate students at the University from time to time, and a number have adjunct status in the graduate school there (see also UMass/Five College Graduate Program in History).
