Faculty benefit from and make use of the consortial relationship among the institutions in a variety of ways. Some elect to teach on exchange at one of the other institutions, or take part in a Five College faculty seminar. All faculty members in one way or another make use of such shared resources as the online course catalog, and the Five College Calendar of Events. In advising students, many faculty members will recommend taking a course at another campus through Five College interchange. A number of faculty are exploring the uses of technology for teaching, including the new interactive video classrooms, or are working with colleagues from several campuses in developing or sustaining a Five College program. A new Five College initiative called the Academic Career Network (ACN) serves spouses or partners of faculty who are scholars in their own right.
