Loan/Delivery Service

Users of
the Five College automated library system can locate a book and then place
a borrowing request electronically through the on-line
joint catalogs. FCD, as the Five College Delivery service is called,
will then see that the material requested, if available, is delivered
to the borrower's home library.
Daily interlibrary
loan delivery service operates among the Ūve campuses and may be used
as a complementary service to direct borrowing and Five College Delivery.
Those wishing to consult several issues of a periodical are encouraged
to go directly to the library that owns the periodical, rather than using
interlibrary loan. Some materials, including videos, Ūlms, reference materials
and rare books/archival collections are not available through interlibrary
loan.
How to Use
FCD Service
- Search
for a book you want from the on-line
joint catalog and bring up its reference on the screen; to get a
book from UMass, you must go to the UMass portion of the catalog.
-
Click on the "Request Item" button above or below.
-
Type in your name and bar code and click on "Submit above information".
-
Choose which library you wish to receive the book from (if more than
one appears on screen) then click on "REQUEST SELECTED ITEM".
-
When you have finished, the screen will read "Your request has
been sent. . . ."
Note:
books already out on loan will be automatically recalled for you. They
will be held for you when they are returned.
