Concerts by the Five College Early Music Program offer a glimpse into the past Performing on both modern and historical instruments such as the viola da gamba and the lute, the Five College Early Music Program will offer an authentic experience of baroque and Renaissance music in a series of concerts in the Five College area April 30 and May 3 and 4, 2008. Directed by Robert Eisenstein, the concerts include a variety of ensembles and events, from small female vocal groups and string quartets to large symphonic orchestras. The Five College Early Music Program is made up of students and faculty from the Five Colleges as well as members of the community. Highlights of the concert series include the Renaissance Loud Band with its double-reed and brass sonorities, and pieces in all of the concerts played on the instruments they were originally written for.
