January
Term 2006 Credit and Noncredit Courses at the Five Colleges
There are some regulations to be observed with respect to courses carrying credit:
- Students at either Amherst College or UMass Amherst seeking to take credit courses at one of the other schools should be advised that:
- Amherst College does not accept credits earned in summer or January for its students and does not offer courses for credit in January.
- Because the University is officially closed during January, its students must arrange to earn credit, either at UMass or at one of the other four schools, through the University’s Division of Continuing Education.
- Students taking academic courses for credit at Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges must complete and submit a Five College Interchange Registration Form to their home-campus registrar.
- All University January term courses are offered through its Division of Continuing Education. Students taking courses at the University of Massachusetts Amherst should be aware that the Division of Continuing Education charges a tuition fee. Courses taken in January through Continuing Education cannot be documented on the Hampshire College transcript.
