Museums10 Launches New Web Site: www.museums10.org Those planning a visit to Massachusetts this fall will have a spiffy new tool at their disposal, as well as some new ideas for where to visit, thanks to a new website that Museums10 launches today. Museums10 represents an affiliation between seven college museums: Mead Art Museum at Amherst College, the Amherst College Natural History Museum, The Emily Dickinson Museums; Hampshire College Gallery; Mount Holyoke College Art Museum; Smith College Museum of Art; and The University of Massachusetts Amherst Gallery; and three independent and neighboring museums: the National Yiddish Book Center, The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, and Historic Deerfield. The development of the site corresponds with planning for GoDutch! a Pioneer Valley-wide celebration of Dutch art, culture, and horticulture schedule for the spring/summer 2006, which is being organized by Museums10 in collaboration with the Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. The newly-designed Museums10 site offers a number of user-friendly features to help visitors visualize the area as well as the collections, including a “quick tour” of each of the ten museums, a handy map page that shows the proximity of the museums to each other, and a calendar that highlights the latest information about the many exhibitions and related events. Visitors to the site can plan their trip to one of the museums, as well as an overnight stay in the area, as the site links to several local chamber of commerce sites as well as restaurants and the Five College Area B & B Web site.
