Five Colleges, Incorporated Welcomes New Development Officer Five Colleges, Incorporated announces the appointment of Nancy J. Goff as director of program planning and development. Ms. Goff officially joined the staff on July 10. She has had extensive experience as an economic development planner and in community development. Ms. Goff is a 1974 graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned a B.A. with highest honors in Anthropology and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. After receiving an M.S. from UMass Amherst in Urban and Regional Management, she worked for over a decade with the University’s Centers for Economic Development and Rural Massachusetts as an economic development planner and managed the Centers’ economic development projects. Prior to accepting this new appointment with Five Colleges, Ms. Goff was Program Manager with the Franklin Regional Council of Governments, where she had fiduciary responsibilities for an annual $4 million Homeland Security grant serving the four counties of western Massachusetts. Previously, she worked for the town of Greenfield, as economic development specialist and community development administrator with the town’s department of planning and development, where she wrote and administered more than $3.5 million in state and federal grants for a variety of community development projects As the Five College director of program planning and development, Ms. Goff will be responsible for all grant activities within the consortium, including preparation of proposals, stewardship and reporting of grants. She will also oversee the implementation of projects funded by external sources, and meet with a number of academic and administrative groups, among them the Music Chairs, Five College America Reads Tutors Program, the Corporate and Foundation Relations Officers, and the Council on Religious Life. Commenting on her appointment, the consortium’s executive director, Lorna M. Peterson, said: "Nancy Goff brings a wealth of skills and experience to us that we can benefit from on many levels. She has demonstrated her effectiveness as a fund raiser, manager of funds and projects, and as a person capable of working with a wide range of groups and constituencies.
