Olabode Omojola Five College Assistant Professor Department of Music Office: 213 Pratt Hall Degree: Ph.D., University of Leicester, England Research Interests: Omojola’s research focuses on African music, with emphasis on Nigerian and Yoruba traditions. His work has explored indigenous and modern musical traditions, and addressed themes like performance practices; music and identity; music and politics; and intercultural aesthetics. Courses include: Introduction to the Music of Africa; Master Musicians of Africa; African Popular Music; World Music. Publications: co-edited (with George Dor of the University of Mississippi) Multiple Interpretations of Dynamics of Creativity and Knowledge in African Music Traditions-A Festschrift in Honor of Akin Euba, which was published by MRI Press in 2005. Languages: Yoruba and English. Geographic focus: West Africa; Nigeria. | |
