Five College America Reads Program

Five Colleges, Incorporated

Special Topic Workshop

As an America Reads Tutor, you are required to attend one Special Topic Workshop towards the end of the semester. You can choose from among several that will be offered. Each workshop will address a specific topic, either about reading or math instruction, or a more general educational topic. Examples may include Working with English Language Learners, Learning Disabilities, Behavior management Techniques, Progress Monitoring, or research in Reading Instruction. Already having tutoring experience under your belt, you will be able to contribute your own observations and ideas, making this a truly dynamic session. Of course, you will be paid for attendance.

Please remember that this training is mandatory. You must stay for the entire length of the session in order to be paid for your time. If you have any special needs regarding accessibility, please let us know ahead of time so that we may accomodate you.

To register, please email speller@educ.umass.edu, Five College America Reads Coordinator. Include your name, school ID #, the name of the college you attend, and the date of the Celebration Session you will attend.
