Five College Community-Based Learning Home Page

Community-Based Learning (CBL) brings together students, faculty, and community organizations to work on projects that provide intellectually rich experiences for students and tangible benefits to the greater community.

It can include:

  • Internships or Independent Studies in local social justice organizations
  • Courses that include community service and reflection components to improve both the learning and the service
  • Skills and knowledge to prepare you to work on issues that impact the greater community
  • Cooperative experiences that promote skills associated with teamwork and community involvement

Download "How to Find Students to Work in Your Community Organization" (PDF file) with descriptions and contact information for programs located at each campus, as well as Five College cooperative programs.

This site is administered by the Five College Committee for Community Based Learning, a committed group of practitioners-faculty as well as professional staff- that has been meeting to share information and explore ways to build and expand CBL.
