02/24/2009 Poet, scholar, and activist Kwame Dawes will give a lecture, "Reggae and History: How Reggae Shaped the Way We Understand History," on Tuesday, 2/24, at 7:30pm in the Augusta Savage Gallery, New Africa House, UMass-Amherst (one floor down from the WEB He will be introduced by Nikky Finney, sister South Carolinian, a long-time comrade of Dawes' in poetry and scholarship and now the Graze Hazard Conkling Writer in Residence at Smith. In addition, an exhibit of the work of Nelson Stevens will be up at Augusta Savage Gallery when Dawes visits. Please see the flyer below for additional information.
