Sharon Arslanian Sharon Arslanian has enjoyed working in the field of dance and dance education for many years and in many different locations and schools. Her academic training includes an M.A. from Mills College in Dance, an M.A. in Dance History from U.C. Riverside, an Ed.D. in Dance from Temple University, and her teacher certification in Labanotation. She produced and directed two tap dance video documentaries: Eddie Brown�s Scientific Rhythm (awarded the Silver Medal by the Dance On Camera Film Festival in 1991), and Two Takes on Tap: Choreographers Brenda Bufalino and Lynn Dally (Honorable Mention by the Dance On Camera Film Festival in 1992). She also produced a video documentary about Smith College Professor Emeritus Gemze de Lappe and her lifelong involvement with the dance legacy of Isadora Duncan, entitled The Enduring Essence (1990). She co-produced and directed Smith College Professor Emeritus Dr. Yvonne Daniel�s remarkable record of her study and teaching of Caribbean dance: Sacred Choreographies (2005) and served as Production Assistant and Script Editor for Dr. Daniels video Public Vodun Ceremonies in Haiti (1997) Currently Sharon is the Coordinator of the Dance Program at Greenfield Community College, which she began in 1993 with Marilyn Middleton Sylla. Her areas of interest are Tap, Middle Eastern dance and music, and dance history. Her performance group BodyWave Belly Dance performs locally whenever they get a chance! | |
