College of Arts + Architecture - Department of Dance Chairperson

The College of Arts + Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites nominations and applications for the Chairperson of the Department of Dance. The Department of Dance currently enrolls 80 undergraduate majors and 40 undergraduate minors in Bachelor of Arts in Dance or Dance Education degree programs.

The Dance Department Chairperson 1) provides leadership in developing and fulfilling the Department's strategic plan and artistic mission; 2) represents the Department and serves as its liaison with other University administrative units; 3) coordinates teaching and advising; 4) advances the department through admissions, recruitment, assessment, and accreditation; and 5) manages the departmental budget and faculty resources including personnel review procedures. In addition, the Chairperson initiates projects and makes connections that tie the Department regionally, nationally, and internationally to professional and allied organizations.

Applicants should hold a MFA, Ed.D., or Ph.D in a dance field and have a record of significant professional activity in dance or related fields as well as a proven record of academic and professional leadership. They should be qualified to add breadth and innovation to the curriculum and must be able to think systemically, act decisively, and support others in their work.
