Welcome!
The purpose of the Five College Collection Management Committee is:
To encourage and facilitate collaborative collection development by faculty
and librarians within the Five Colleges; to suggest policies and procedures
for the development of a Five College Library Depository collection; to
consult with other Five College committees, and to act as an advisory
committee to the Librarians Council.
Our areas of responsibility:
1. Assist the Librarians Council in identifying faculty interests in cooperative collection development projects (e.g. shared acquisitions, shared storage, rationalizing of holdings, digitizing, etc.)
2. Identify and advise the Five College Librarians Council on appropriate collections strategies for specific areas by subject, language, format, etc. for consortial collection development.
3. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the Five College Library collections as a whole, starting with depository issues. Recommend criteria for selection and consider procedural issues for the inclusion of serials in the Depository.
