About Holyoke Bound Twice a year “Holyoke Bound” serves to enhance the preparatory work area campuses do with students to ensure they are knowledgeable, respectful, culturally sensitive and effective contributors to the Holyoke community. Students working in Holyoke are encouraged to participate in this event that brings together students from area colleges for a day of orientation, preparation and reflection on Holyoke involvement. Holyoke Bound is held in Holyoke, involving community members, leaders, and community-based organization staff as the day's "experts." Any Five College student, staff, or faculty member who has an interest in becoming involved in Holyoke in any capacity is welcome to attend this event! We also welcome any and all community members who have an involvement with college students and the colleges, or who are interested in learning more about the History of Holyoke and/or networking are encouraged to attend! Past Program Materials Holyoke Bound is organized and run by the Five College Holyoke Bound Planning Committee which is comprised of Five College faculty, staff, and students, as well as local community members. The Five College Committee for Community-Based Learning (FCCBL) comprises representatives of the community engagement offices on campuses of the Five College consortium; including Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This committee aims to promote and expand campus-community partnerships between students, faculty, and community organizations. Projects promoted by the FCCBL provide intellectually rich experiences for students and tangible benefits to the greater community. The FCCBL is committed to supporting multi-institutional cooperative efforts to coordinate campus-community partnerships across the Five Colleges for greater sustainability and impact. Members of this committee have been working together for over ten years planning and coordinating community engagement activities.
