This chapter was written by members of the Five College Community-Based Learning Committee (representing, Smith, Hampshire and Mount Holyoke Colleges) who were also active in the establishment of the Holyoke Planning Network (HPN). HPN involved partners from Holyoke community-based organizations and area colleges in joint efforts to address structural inequities, issues of sustainability and reciprocity, and a range of ethical and logistical challenges in campus-community partnerships. This article details the efforts of HPN that continue today through various coalition and community partnership initiatives in Holyoke.
