Digital Environment Development and Coordinating Committee The Committee's charge: The ever growing and dynamic digital environment for knowledge resources and for libraries offers opportunities and challenges to the Five College Libraries collaboration. It requires more agility in considering new options and approaches than our current decision making structures allow. Consequently, the FCLC is creating a new Committee that will be required to take a consortium-wide and cross-functional view in their work. Each member will be asked to represent a functional area rather than their own institution in all Committee deliberations. Individual institution/library implications will be considered at a different stage in the process. Digital Environment Development and Coordinating Committee [DEDCC]* exists to improve user access, service delivery and creation of digital collections for the Five College Libraries through the use of existing and emerging technologies. The committee will investigate and analyze areas for Five College library collaboration and develop and implement projects as appropriate. The Committee will be empowered to make decisions regarding technology that do not require substantial levels of funding or major changes in the deployment of staff. The Committee will make recommendations requiring substantial levels of funding or major staff changes to the Librarians Council. The Committee will have a deliberative role and important roles in coordinating and communicating. It will: • address issues that relate to or incorporate user impact Committees working on issues that relate to this committee's charge will send proposals and recommendations initially to this Committee. *{sounds like Dead Sea} Featured News 01/19/2010 Meeting Notes view all | |
