DEDCC meeting 04/14/06 notes – Smith College
Present: J. Ewing, S. Berger, L. Button, M. Billings, J. Jourdain
J. Ewing mailed the letter to Google regarding GoogleScholar that we wrote expressing our support for the project. The committee agreed to wait until May 1 to see what reaction Google has to the letter before deciding if we want to follow up in any additional way. Meanwhile, M. Billings will post the letter on DEDCC’s website.
The Verde brown bag lunch on April 11 was successful. The committee decided that any further follow-up on Verde is more rightly the responsibility of the Acquisitions and Serials Committee. L. Button will contact that committee to let them know that several people have already asked for more Verde orientations.
The bulk of the meeting was a very broad discussion of many activities on the local campuses with regard to library technologies being implemented, plus an overview of the most recent Computers in Libraries conference from S. Berger.
Given the growing intensity of the ALEPH implementation project, the committee agreed to limit meetings over the next several months, tentatively scheduling only one meeting during the summer.
Next meeting: Friday May 19, 9AM at Five Colleges.
