DEDCC meeting minutes for Thursday, June 7, 2007
Neilson Library Admin. Conference Room, Smith College

Attendees: Janet Ewing (chair), Sika Berger (recorder), Marilyn Billings, Rebecca Henning, Chris Loring, Anne C. Moore, Mary Stettner

This meeting was devoted to continuing work on catalog enrichment.

Questions remain about the documentation we’ve been told comes from ExLibris for Syndetics use with ALEPH. Now that FCLC has approved the implementation for Five Colleges DEDCC will work with AMC to establish ExLibris contact and Five College scheduling for the project, and with RIO and others to facilitate planning for the user interface.

During the next 2-3 weeks Marilyn will be around, while others have various days off. As Anne has had the most contact with Syndetics to date she will communicate with AMC at first. We agreed to keep up DEDCC communication via Ella.

Plans were made for keeping up communication and help with the implementation of Syndetics catalog enrichment in time for July/August testing [with launch in the public catalog before the start of fall semester 2007]. DEDCC’s notes on planning document some details discussed. (attached, for committee use)

Tasks and events

Chris – check in with directors to OK attachment of DEDCC’s recommendation to our minutes, without pricing information.

Rebecca – Contact Syndetics for confirmation of ExLibris documentation

Anne – Communicate with Chris Hannon to ask about schedule for AMC meetings (Jan’s away), and then with AMC (about project planning, timing, responsibility for work in ALEPH, etc.). Copy or forward part of message to M.J., as heads-up on discussion with AMC (the work will involve her staff).

Anne – Share the sample order form with Leslie Button, and copy Marie and Five Colleges (attach cost per institution summary column to show how billing will work).

Janet – Communicate with RIO by way of Bonnie, including URL’s for three other ALEPH library / Syndetics users.

Marilyn and Mary – check in with the identified ALEPH / Syndetics customers (CUNY, SUNY, Florida CCLA) and report back to all via Ella

Mary – tweak fall program topic & timing survey
