Who will maintain these documents?
Marilyn will put Library Information Links document on Five Colleges Web site under FCLC area and on the DEDCC area.
Janet will send Library IT Access across the Five Colleges and Five College Libraries Public Access Info: 2007 to RIO and consult about how to make the documents available. Janet will ask RIO if they would like to assume responsibility for maintenance of these documents.
Marilyn will attach these two documents to the minutes from this meeting when they are posted to the DEDCC Web site.
Next Generation Catalogs program
Speaker reps will distribute relevant comments from Question 4 to the speakers. Mary posted PDF and Excel spreadsheet versions to Ella.
Janet sent thank yous to speakers and asked them to let us know if they were not reimbursed.
We were a little below the budget estimate. ,300 rather than the ,500 budgeted. Honorariums were 0. All bills are paid.
Report to Five Colleges
Janet will add the budget information. Make it brief. Provide one paragraph of summary of the comments and link to the pdf version of the document. The program was educational as a way to begin the conversation. Janet will say that we had valuable suggestions and we will analyze them for future recommendations.
What are the options of next steps?
The to do item for DEDCC: We should analyze the suggestions and make recommendations.
Rebecca will categorize the comments by December 14 and send them out to us. We will review them. We will brainstorm next steps through the Wiki on Ella. Mary will give us global privileges. The discussion will continue at the January meeting.
Future items for DEDCC to pay attention to:
Library 2.0 services
Meebo widget for IM in catalog when search fails
Blogs
Firefox extensions
Usability testing
Cooperative guides (LibGuides).
AMC needs to know now about anything that impacts (pimps up) the catalog and quickly in December and January.
Is there anything we want to work with RIO on to improve the functionality of Aleph? Janet will talk with RIO about 1) Syndetics book covers on the browse list and 2) the Meebo widget for IM in catalog when search fails. If they are interested, these two items will need to get on the priority list for AMC very soon.
Syndetics: We got a refund from Bowker for the Awards feature in Syndetics.
Sometime soon Janet will send an email to DEDCC to set up a Friday in February for our first spring meeting.
Next meeting: Friday, January 18, 10:30-Noon, Five Colleges
