DEDC 01/13/03 meeting notes
01/13/03 meeting at Smith College
Present: C. Loring; M. Billings; S. Berger; R. Fonfa/ S. Willen Brown; J. Schafer
* Update on January meetings - Raven & Sika
-Over 80 persons attended the 01/09/03 session on Open Linking.
-Over 50 reservations have been received for the 01/21/03 session on Federated Searching -Chris will work with others to arrange dinner on 01/20/03 for speakers from University of Maryland.
-Feedback on sessions will be available for FCLC meeting on 01/23/03.
*Update on Google search across 5 Colleges subject pages
-Sika is having a difficult time locating a real person to talk to at Google. Current information indicates that it is not yet possible to search more than one institution's page at a time. Sika will continue to inquire.
*Review of Ideas List
-My Millennium is of interest. Linda Matson will be invited to 1/29 or 2/10 meeting to provide more information -The Onion Patch (New Age and Public Access Systems) and LITA websites are possible sources for additional technology developments and trends for DEDCC investigation -XML might be a topic for future information session -Possible lunch with Bruce Croft (UMA) to discuss Bibliomining and other information related issues
*Action Items
-Look at Onion Patch (http://www.public.iastate.edu/~CYBERSTACKS/Onion.htm) and LITA site.
-Marilyn will discuss My Millennium and other Innovative applications with Linda Matson.
-Sika will send preliminary generic program evaluation form for review -Add quarterly evaluation of DEDCC to next meeting's agenda
