DEDCC 03/24/03 meeting at Five Colleges -- notes
Present: S. Berger, J. Schafer, M. Billings, S. Willen Brown; C. Loring, J. Jourdain
We reviewed recently implemented III enhancements:
* Since feedback from RIO and Circ indicates there are differing opinions as to whether auto-verification should be left on, we will ask both committees to give us the pros and cons from their particular perspectives. Based on their arguments, we'll make a decision about turning the feature off or leaving it on.
* Synonym list: No action at this time.
* Links from location labels to "where is it" guides on library web sites (see example at http://fclibr.library.umass.edu/search/t?SEARCH=from+delacroix+to+cezanne): This will be referred to RIO for their thoughts on implementing it.
* Catalog enhancements: This will be referred to Cataloging to obtain more information, and for RIO to discuss pros and cons of implementation.
We spent most of the meeting _determining_ the process for obtaining bids on open linking and federated searching systems. We reviewed the timeline for the process _and the Librarians' Council's comments regarding the process_. We planned dates for system demos we expect to arrange with various vendors and discussed who should be invited to attend the demos.
