Meeting Notes

DEDCC 05/19/03 meeting at Smith College - notes

Present: S. Willen Brown, M. Billings, R. Fonfa, S. Berger, C. Loring, J. Schafer, J. Jourdain

We scheduled our next few meetings, through mid-June.

We drafted our recommendation to the FCLC regarding context-sensitive linking and federated searching. The recommendation will be finalized by Wed May 21. The Council needs sufficient time to review the recommendation prior to their May 27 meeting, as they in turn need to make a recommendation to the Five College Presidents/Chancellor for their next meeting, later in the day May 27.

Based on the outcome of the two May 27 meetings, DEDCC will either notify the winning company that they have been selected for implementing context-sensitive linking and federated searching for the Libraries or will inform all of the vendors that we will need more time to make our selection.

Next meeting: Thursday, May 29, 2003, 1PM, Five Colleges
Agenda: Continued RFB business (negotiating plans, implementation team), XML workshop, DSpace, virtual reference
