Meeting Notes

DEDCC 06/16/03 meeting at Five Colleges — notes

Present: S. Willen Brown, M. Billings, J. Schafer, C. Loring, J. Jourdain

We reviewed our list of issues still under review by various other committees. Due to the summer holiday vacation season, we agreed to wait until late summer/early Fall semester to inquire on the status of these topics within the appropriate respective committees.

We agreed that the XML workshop we were considering hosting during the summer would probably be more convenient for people at another time. Kelcy Sheperd agreed, so we agreed to plan the workshop for January 2004.

We hope to have some more information on whether Five Colleges will be pursuing a new ILS after the FCLC holds its next meeting on July 2.

The remainder of the meeting was devoted to issues related to the upcoming implementation of the Ex Libris products, SFX and MetaLib.

· Jay Schafer reviewed the details of the pending license, which we hope will be finalized within the next couple of days.

· We agreed that it would be worthwhile to invite Jenny Walker to make an additional presentation on SFX and MetaLib to everyone interested in mid-October or so.

· We outlined several items that the Five College Ex Libris implementation team will need to address, including training, data preparation, etc.

• Learn composition of local Ex Libris implementation committees and report back to DEDCC with group leader names to form Five College implementation team – all -- done

• Draft Ex Libris announcement to colleagues -- Sika -- done

• Check with TDNet about data export into SFX -- Jan
