DEDCC 07/14/03 meeting at Five Colleges — notes

Present: J. Schafer, C. Loring, M. Billings, S. Berger, S. Willen Brown, J. Boisselle, J. Jourdain

We conducted our quarterly review of our activities. The major accomplishment of the past few months was preparation of the RFB for context-sensitive linking and federated searching and its related activities, particularly hosting the various vendor demos, review of the bids, and award of the contract to Ex Libris. The process was completed per the schedule outlined by FCLC. We’re all reminded to be more punctual about the start and end times of our meetings.

S. Willen Brown will draft an annual report to FCLC in the next couple of weeks for our committee’s review.

J. Schafer reported that the Ex Libris contract has been finalized; he’ll ensure that the recently received invoice is properly processed and paid.

SFX training is on schedule for July 21-22 at Smith. Data preparation is progressing well at all the libraries.

We discussed FCLC’s recent announcement that an ILS search committee is to be designated soon. We understand that the committee’s charge and timetable are also in progress. DEDCC is willing to assist in the search process in any possible way.

Robyn Cutler from Five Colleges visited DEDCC to explain the upcoming enhancements to the Five Colleges, Inc. website. The site will allow for “sister” subsites, with space for seven pages for each Five College academic department and each committee, including all of the various library committees. Someone from each of the committees will have responsibility and authority for maintaining the data on their committee’s pages.
