DEDCC 02/27/04 meeting at Five Colleges - notes
Present: S. Berger, C. Loring, M. Billings, S.W. Brown, J. Jourdain
The FCLC has approved new committee members from MHC and UM to replace J. Boiselle and J. Schafer. We hope our new members will be ready to join us at our next regular meeting on or about March 12.
The TDNet contract is due for renewal this spring. We aren't sure of the exact date by which a decision is required. There is some discussion about the value of renewing TDNet considering that not all the libraries are maintaining and/or using it. We'll gather more information before we discuss TDNet renewal further.
We discussed more details of the MetaLib training scheduled for mid-April. We have a list of attendants from all libraries except MHC (which we hope to have at our next meeting when we have a new MHC member) and have arranged to use the classroom (Lane Room) at Amherst. Committee members were asked to forward information about MetaLib to the people in their libraries' who'll be attending the training and doing the implementation. Also, we have asked that the FCLC designate someone who'll be involved in the project, preferrably not someone currently involved with the ILS selection process, to chair the MetaLib implementation project and, in the short term, oversee the training arrangements.
We spent the remainder of the meeting working on our report to the ILS Selection Committee on the four vendors we've reviewed. Additional comments on the draft should be forwarded to Stephanie as soon as possible.
Our next meeting will be either March 11 (11AM - 1PM), or March 12 (10:30AM - 12:30PM) at FIve Colleges. Agenda: further discussion of TDNet and MetaLib.
