DEDCC 05/17/04 meeting at Five Colleges – notes

Present: S. Berger, M. Billings, S. Brown, L. Button, J. Ewing, C. Loring

1. We reviewed the ground rules and made revisions and additions to several sections, including our role in communicating with Five College Library committees and the FCLC and terms of chair. Stephanie will revise the ground rules document and distribute them.

2. We agreed to conduct an internal review of our activities at our next meeting.

3. We are waiting for Ex Libris to confirm if they will conduct training for 3 full days or whether it will be 2 and one-half days because we are an asp customer. We have confirmed July 6-8, 2004 as dates Ex Libris will train us on version 3 of MetaLib.

4. We discussed the brown bag lunch proposal. Chris advised us that we need to be more attentive to the FCLC calendar and present them with proposals in a timely manner so they are able to get the topic on their agenda and make decisions at their meetings (and not via email). Chris also shared with us some FCLC concerns around the brown bag proposal.

We agreed to revise this concept with a proposed brown bag lunch to be held in late July. The topic of this brown bag would be to provide an update on information learned at the SFX/MetaLib Users Group meeting (scheduled for June 16-17 in Cambridge), with an emphasis toward focusing on MetaLib implementation issues. Chris will take this proposal back to FCLC for discussion at their next meeting.

5. Marilyn is scheduled to meet with Robin later this morning to discuss the status of the Five College web site. She should advise us if this is not going to work so that we can place it on the agenda for our next meeting.

Next meeting: June 10, 10:30-12:00 a.m. at Smith College
