Meeting Notes

DEDCC 06/11/04 meeting at Smith College - notes

Present: J. Ewing, S. Brown, S. Berger, L. Button, M. Billings, C. Loring, J. Jourdain

1. We finalized our updated ground rules.

2. We tentatively planned our next meeting to be in the period July 6-8 to fit into the MetaLib training schedule. Once we know the final training schedule, we’ll finalize our meeting date/time. The subsequent meeting will be August 5, 9AM, at Five Colleges.

3. Sika announced that SC will be hosting a demo of Docutek’s live reference product on July 9 at 10AM. More information about the demo will be distributed via other channels.

4. The group was pleased that the Five Colleges website space for library committee information is beginning to take shape. We discussed several ideas on what might be useful to include on the pages in the future. Right now the pages don’t have any calendar feature, but this enhancement has already been requested.

5. Chris, Jan, and Leslie updated the group on the preliminary negotiations with Ex Libris for the new ILS. The three major issues of database configuration, media booking, and reports were all discussed so far, but a more detailed list of issues is being drafted by the ILS Selection Committee. In order to go live with acquisitions for the start of FY06 in July 2005, it looks like a contract will need to be finalized by August 2004. Further meetings of the negotiating team (i.e., the FCLC) and Ex Libris reps will continue through the summer.

6. We tentatively scheduled a brown bag lunch to review information from this week’s SMUG meeting and the upcoming MetaLib training for Tuesday, July 20. Everyone who is interested in either/both topics is welcome to join us then.
