Meeting Notes

DEDCC 02/18/05 meeting at Five Colleges - notes

Present: L. Button, S. Berger, S. Brown, J. Ewing, C. Loring, J. Jourdain

1. C. Loring will check on the status of the Five Colleges library email list and wireless access statement with the FCLC.

2. Everything is all set for next week’s (Friday, 2/25) brown back on hot technologies in libraries at Hampshire. See Hot Technologies in Libraries for details.

3. There was a lively discussion regarding use of web space allocated to the library committees in the fivecolleges.edu site. Only a couple of committees (including DEDCC) have content in the space. We’re unsure how to promote use of the space now that it’s available. S. Brown will draft a memo to the FCLC informing them that the space is operational and asking what their expectations are regarding its use.

4. L. Button offered to follow-up on the still-pending III enhancements in lieu of M. Billings, while the latter is on sabbatical.

5. S. Berger and S. Brown will draft a memo to the FCLC regarding the importance of proceeding deliberately to determine our future course with regard to digital object management (DOM). The committee’s discussion during this and our previous meeting provide an outline of the memo which we hope will be in the FCLC’s hands prior to their March meeting.
