RIO Minutes
July 6, 2005 Meeting at Hampshire College
Present: Bryan Goodwin (recorder), Margaret Groesbeck, Barbara Polowy, Bonnie Vigeland
Absent: Sherre L. Harrington, Beth Lang
Meeting
The minutes from the June 21 meeting were approved without changes.
The next meeting will be held on Friday, July 22 at 1 pm at Hampshire College.
Goals for next year to be included in RIOs Annual Report
Offer a program in May to help reference librarians in the teaching of the new library catalog to patrons.
Review and make recommendations for the ALEPHs public interface (Indexing, Limiting, Logical Bases)
Oversee Usability Testing
Review Five College Depository Services.
Host the fall meeting of Five College librarians in the public services.
Co-Sponsor an Amherst College panel discussion on Focus Groups.
ALEPH Implementation Committee
Bonnie V. will check to see about the process of selecting RIO members to serve on the ALEPH Implementation Committee.
Initial review of current ALEPH Library Catalogs to serve as models for Five College Implementation.
RIO members will consult with their colleagues to identify best features of current ALEPH catalogs in the areas of public interfaces, search options and retrievals. We will discuss our findings at the next RIO meeting. We will also discuss filters and logical bases for the catalog.
