Old Business:
Orientation for new librarians:
The sessions were held earlier this week, on Jan. 16 & 17. Each site reported numbers of 15-20 people on the tour, and all felt that this was a successful and enjoyable venture. Positive feedback was received from the tour-takers.
Usability Testing of ALEPH OPAC:
RIO members thank Barbara Polowy for her hard work on compiling the OPAC usability tests into a very strong report. The report has been sent to AMC and FCLC groups.
New Business:

OPAC Display of Five Colleges Depository items:

Now that the 5-Colleges depository records are in their own new ADM within ALEPH catalog, the OPAC display of these records needs some tweaking in order to have them displayed in a consistent and uniform manner. Kathryn Leigh, the coordinator for the Five College depository, requested that RIO consider the following proposals:

1. Define the OPAC display of the Sublibrary in the browser display to be Five College Depository, regardless of whether the sublibrary is FCDPT or UMDPT (but maintain the distinction in the codes).
**RIO agrees that the sublibrary in the browser display for all depository items should be: FC Depository
2. On the Call Number & Availability page, define the OPAC display of all the collections in the Depository to be Five College Depository, and not Five College Depository serials and Five College Depository monographs. Again, maintain the distinction in the codes.
**RIO agrees that all collections from the Depository should display as Five College Depository (remove the references of monograph or serials from the display.)
3. One more depository item display issue was discussed, that was not on K. Leigh’s list, but is closely related. On the Call Number & Availability page, in the Item Status column, the term presently in use for 5-College serials is “Restricted.” RIO advocates for replacing the term “Restricted” with “Non-circulating”.
Next RIO gathering:
Friday, February 1, at 8:30am at the Lone Wolf restaurant in Amherst; a good-bye breakfast for Margaret Groesbeck, who has recently left the RIO committee after many years of service.
