RIO MEETING MINUTES 4/10/09

Present at the meeting:
Bryan Goodwin, Chair, Charlotte Slocum Patriquin, Beth Lang, Susan Kimball, Barbara Polowy and Bonnie Vigeland

The next meeting of the RIO Committee was re-scheduled for June 1st at 9 am at Hampshire College.

Beth and Bryan reported on their meeting with the AMC to discuss the proposal for a task force to deal with OPAC issues. AMC has endorsed the proposal and RIO will present it to the FCLC along with any changes to the proposal that emerge from a forthcoming meeting between the RIO and DEDCC Committees.

That joint meeting (RIO and DEDCC) will take place on May 20th at Five Colleges, Inc. The ensuing discussion focused on what issues RIO members would like to bring up with DEDCC members. The question of overlapping charges to the two committees was deemed most important. RIO members would like to look at issues of conflicting charges and to imagine new charges, clarifying the goals of each committee. Charlotte noted that the FCLC will soon be examining the charges of all the Five College library committees.
RIO members were urged to talk with the DEDCC member at their own institutions before the joint meeting.

It was announced that Version 19 of ALEPH is now in test and RIO members will need to verify OPAC functions and report any problems. Steph has a script for OPAC testing and Barbara has a list of some display problems that were fixed in Version 18 and that we will want to be sure are still working in Version 19. The list of what needs to be checked includes: SAVE, SDI, EMAIL, MY LIBRARY CARD/ RENEWALS. We need to go through all the Basic Searches (especially the number searches), the Modify Search page, and the spell check page. RIO members need to check how functions work at their home institution and should send a report on what works or doesn't to Barbara by April 20th.
