Old Business
Annual Report:
For Bryan’s annual report, RIO decided to wait for our new charge from the library directors before setting out specific goals. RIO suggested to Bryan that there be a general statement that the goals of the committee will be set by our new charge. There were no changes to the body of the report.
Plans for the Sept. 25th meeting:
RIO discussed plans for the 5 College Reference meeting to be held at Hampshire College. There are about 25 attendees expected. Each RIO member will give a brief report on changes at their institution which affect other 5 college students. The poster sessions to follow are:
Mt. Holyoke: Facebook and new blog
Hampshire: 5 college library tour video
UMass: World Cat local and Desk Tracker stat package
Smith: Web Lab – presenting web 2.0 technology to library users
Amherst: e-reserve using Zotero
Tech Services tours:
Barbara reported that she had met with Sharon Domier to discuss including tours of tech services in the January “new librarians” tours that RIO arranges. She will recontact Sharon in November as we plan the January tours.
Aleph downtime message:
Barbara contacted Step about an Aleph downtime message to be displayed on the OPAC link for both planned and unplanned downtime to the catalog. Step said this was possible to implement. RIO voted on a basic screen for catalog downtime with contact information for each college and specific dates and times (if known) for when the catalog would be available again. The chair of RIO will be able to edit the screen if necessary.
There was no new business.
The next meeting is scheduled for Ocotober 19th at 9 am at Five Colleges Inc. on Spring Street,
Respectfully submitted,
Bonnie Vigeland (Hampshire), recorder
