The Whole Book Approach
Nov. 6, 2009; 10am-2pm
Particants will have the opportunity to discover how to read with children by focusing on critical engagement of the storybook. (4 PDP's)
Exciting Children's Interest about Art with Susan Goldman Rubin
Nov. 13, 2009; 10am-2pm
Susan Goldman Rubin, author of over 45 books for young people, will hold a storytime of her books and then in a follow-up workshop share with interested participants the methods of exciting children's interest in art. (4 PDP's)
An Introduction to Visual Thinking Strategies
Dec. 3,2009; 1-5pm
This workshop focuses on Learn about Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), a set of principles based on the ideas of cognitive psychologist Abigail Housen and verteran museum educator Philip Yenawine to help find the values in the works of art.
Using Picture Books for Older Students
Dec. 4, 2009; 9am-12pm
This workshop will provide strategies for integrating picture books in upper elementary curricula. Participants will learn to use picture books to introduce new subject matter, simplify literary elements, and help students with their writing process.
