H-Net An international consortium of scholars and teachers, H-Net creates and coordinates Internet networks with the common objective of advancing teaching and research in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Africans in America An excellent site, offering a good narrative history of African history, 1450-1865, and multiple resources and documents for pursuing the subject further.

"All the News? The American Revolution and Maryland's Press"
Features articles, letters, and broadsides on the growing imperial crisis, as published in the Maryland Gazette.

American Indian History and Related Issues Provides links to hundreds of sites relating to Native Americans before and after 1492.

A Biography of America A good introduction to major topics in American history, including "The Coming of Independence" and "A New System of Government."

Common-place: Roundtable Discussion on the Uses and Abuses of the Constitution.

"DoHistory." An outstanding website, it uses the diary of Martha Ballard, a midwife in late eighteenth-century Maine, to demonstrate how historians as well as students can reconstruct and interpret the history of any subject through evidence from primary sources.

"The Papers of George Washington." A useful introduction to Washington's multi-faceted life and to his public and private writings.

From Indentured Servitude to Racial Slavery, Excellent discussion of slavery and the slave trade in North America, including African contexts. Features useful maps and links to primary and secondary sources.

Historic Deerfield Collections and Research View furniture, china, and other examples of elite consumption in eighteenth-century New England. Photos accompanied by information on artisans and techniques.

"Liberty! The American Revolution." An elaborate site, offering perspectives on major events from the Seven Years War to the adoption of the Bill of Rights and featuring dozens of links to related sites.

Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center Official site of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. Includes discussion of ongoing archaeological research, an introduction to the museum's collection of more than two thousand objects, and an on-line information resources catalogue. Emphasis on northeastern Native Americans, especially in New England.

"A Multitude of Amendments, Alterations, and Additions." A part of the site for Independence National Historical Park that examines the drafting and promulgating of three major founding documents-the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution.

Religion and the Founding of the American Republic. Discusses the role of religion in the British colonies and in the early American republic.
