Five College Sustainability Studies Welcome to the Five College Sustainability Website! BREAKING NEWS: FIVE COLLEGE SUSTAINABILITY STUDIES CERTIFICATE PROGRAM:
The full report of the Five College Directors’ sustainability initiative, Blue Sky Brainstorm: Envisioning Sustainability for the Five Colleges and Beyond is now available. This report includes all of the proposals gathered as part of the initiative. The FC Blue Sky Brainstorm working committee includes Jan Dizard (Amherst College), Sue Darlington (Hampshire College), Tim Farnham (Mount Holyoke College), Joanne Benkley (Smith College), Ezra Small (UMass Amherst), and Beth Hooker (Five Colleges). The FC Sustainability Studies Program: A variety of Five College sustainability studies programs and services now offer additional opportunities and support for students who want to study the impact of humans on the environment. Current initiatives include a Five College lecture series, a website listing available courses and programs, a Five College certificate in sustainability studies and affiliated faculty members, and an investigation into a possible Five College food and agriculture summer institute, located at Hampshire Farm. In September 2010, Beth Hooker joined Five Colleges, Incorporated as their first Sustainability Programs Coordinator. Since then, she has worked collaboratively on the FC sustainability studies certificate program, led an initiative to explore the feasibility of a FC Food and Agriculture Institute, located at Hampshire Farm, and sought funding for various sustainability initiatives.
