A contemporary foreign language, if necessary, in order to allow a student to demonstrate a second-year college level of proficiency (a requirement which may be satisfied by successful completion of four years of such a language in high school). Students for whom English is a second language have already completed this requirement.
Students must ordinarily have completed at least two years of college-level foreign language study to qualify for the certificate.
A contemporary foreign language at least through the second college year (through UMass 240) or its equivalent by advanced placement exam, high school credit, or UMass waiver exam.
