Five College Accessibility Converter - Braille and E-text Project

The Five College Accessibility Converter is a self-service utility that allows you to convert documents into a range of alternative formats, including Braille (a Braille printer must be provided by user), mp3, Daisy and e-text for the visually and reading impaired. This converter can also be used to convert otherwise inaccessible documents such as image-only pdf files or images into more accessible formats. This self-service utility is provided at no cost to all members of the Five College community: Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College and University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

The way it works:

  1. Upload a file, enter the URL of a document, or input text through the web interface and select an output format.
  2. Submit your request by clicking the Submit button. (NOTE: If you hit the return key, it will not submit while not giving you a clear error message. We are working on a resolution.)
  3. An email will be sent to you with a link to the conversion. You will be able to download and save your converted file.

To begin using this self-service utility, go to the Five College Converter form.
