Carol Bailey ’07G is an associate professor at Westfield State University. Her area of teaching and research is postcolonial literatures, with specialization in Caribbean literature. Bailey is the author of A Poetics of Performance: The Oral-Scribal Aesthetic in Anglophone Caribbean Fiction(2014), in which she explores Caribbean written literature alongside calypso, reggae, and different modes of Caribbean oral storytelling, emphasizing folk and urban working-class performance cultures and a woman-centered poetics.
