Talk title: An Afternoon with Ann Hornaday: How to Watch Movies
Ann Hornaday is the Washington Post's chief film critic. She graduated from Smith College in '82 with a degree in government, after which she worked at Ms. magazine as a researcher and editorial assistant. She went on to write about movies for the New York Times Arts & Leisure section, for the Baltimore Sun and for the Austin American-Statesman. She was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in criticism in 2008, and, in 2017, published her book on film criticism and spectatorship, Talking Pictures: How to Watch Movies. She also co-hosts a podcast with fellow DC movie critic Arch Campbell and sports broadcaster and film fan Marc Sterne called, At the Movies with Arch and Ann. Hornaday will give a lecture with a Q & A.
