Emer O'Dwyer, Associate Professor, History and East Asian Studies, Oberlin College, to speak on "Democracy and Justice in Postwar Japan". Professor O'Dwyer will give a noon-hour lecture on courts and democracy in early postwar Japan during the Occupation. She is the author of Significant Soil: Settler Colonialism in Japan's Urban Empire in Manchuria. Sponsored by the Smith College Program in East Asian Studies, the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, the Department of History, and the College Lecture Committee (pending).
