Akim Volynsky’s Journey to Ballets Magic Kingdom

Russian literature professor Stanley Rabinowitz will discuss his long and unexpected journey of studying the Russian ballet during the eventful and tumultuous years from 1911 to 1925 through the writings of Petersburg’s pre-eminent dance critic, Akim Volynsky (1861-1926). This lecture is part of Lewis Global Studies Center's three-day symposium "Understanding Russia:Perspectives on Politics and Culture."
