In the spring semester of 2021 there will be fewer students living on our campuses, students living on our campuses wil be discouraged from leaving campus, and students from one campus will not be allowed on other campuses. As a result, PVTA has reduced the frequency of bus runs on most Five College routes. Those changes are outlined below. Details can be found at pvta.com. Please note that schedules reflecting the spring, 2021 semester will not be posted until January, 2021.
Please keep in mind that during the pandemic, PVTA buses are for essential trips only, and all riders must wear face masks.
Route 38 - UMass-Amherst-Hampshire-Mount Holyoke
From February 1 through May 7, the 38 will operate with about 45 minutes between buses from 6:40am to 12:15am on weekdays and from 9:20am to 12:15am on Saturdays. On Sundays, buses will run approximately every 90 minutes between 9:20 am to 9:40 pm.
Route 39 - Smith-Hampshire; Mount Holyoke-Hampshire-Hampshire Mall
Bus will not operate. Access to/from Northampton/malls/Hampshire College will be available via Route 38 transfers with the B43 in Amherst/UMass.
39E - Smith-Mount Holyoke Express
Bus will not operate. Access to/from Northampton/malls/Mount Holyoke College will be available via Route 38 transfers with the B43 in Amherst/UMass.
B43 - Smith-UMass-Amherst (with a stop at the Hampshire Mall)
The B43 will start its spring semester full service on Sunday, January 17, 2021; it will operate no school sunday service on Monday, January 18, 2021 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It will then resume full service on January 19, 2021. B43 service will end at 11:40 pm on Thursday, Friday; and Saturday, and at 10:10 pm on Sundays.
R29 - Holyoke Mall-Mount Holyoke-Hampshire-Amherst-UMass
Will continue to operate as normal throughout Spring 2021 semester. Five College students and employees with a campus ID may ride for free when school is in session.
