The Association for Asian Studies has awarded its 2017 Buchanan Prize to Anne Prescott, director of the Five College Center for East Asian Studies, for her work as editor and co-author of the book East Asia in the World: An Introduction.
According to its publisher, East Asia in the World offers “a fresh, comprehensive, multidisciplinary entry point to East Asia, with an emphasis on the globalizing processes the region is undergoing.” In addition to editing the book, Prescott also wrote six of its 17 chapters.
The Franklin R. Buchanan Prize is awarded annually to recognize an outstanding curriculum publication on Asia designed for any educational level. The Association for Asian Studies is a scholarly international association based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The 2017 Buchanan prize will be awarded to Prescott at the association’s annual conference in Toronto in March. The prize includes a $1,000 monetary award and a one-year membership to AAS.
