Topics Course.: In this seminar we will read the 6th century Indian Buddhist philosopher Candrakīrti’s Introduction to the Middle Way (Madhyamakāvatāra) along with its auto commentary and commentaries by three Tibetan scholars: Rendawa from the Sakaya tradition; the 7th Karmapa Mikyoe Dorje from the Karma Kagyu tradition and the nonsectarian Nyingma-trained philosopher Ju Mipham rinpoche. Students will learn how to read Indian Madhyamaka texts and how to read such a text through a commentarial tradition.
