Summer Session 1: May 27 - July 2, 2014


Elementary Swahili I

Class Meeting Times:  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00 am – 12:15 pm
Credits: 4
Tuition: $1200
This intensive elementary Swahili course covers all four primary language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The course also introduces aspects of Swahili and East African cultures, as well as the use of the Swahili language in culturally appropriate ways. Class sessions and homework will emphasize practical use of the language in everyday spoken and written contexts.

Intermediate Swahili I

Course Dates:  May 27 – July 2, 2014
Course Meeting Location: Mount Holyoke College
Class Meeting Times:  Monday, Wednesday, Friday 1:30 am – 4:30 pm
Credits: 4
Tuition: $1200
This intermediate Swahili course continues to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. The course emphasizes discussion on culturally relevant topics and development of vocabulary necessary to interact with people in everyday settings and in professional or academic contexts.  Prerequisite: One year of college-level Swahili.
