English 326 - Fiction Writing II

How do we inhabit fiction writing as a practice? What does it mean to dig deeper into our stories? And which stories do we choose to stick with over time? In this advanced fiction writing course, students will explore these questions and more through writing, reading, and sharing their writing, with a special focus on deepening the workshop process. Readings may include Joseph Earl Thomas's God Bless You, Otis Spunkmeyer, Jake Maia Arlow's The Year My Life Went Down the Toilet, and Cat Fitzpatrick and Casey Plett's anthology Meanwhile, Elsewhere: Science Fiction and Fantasy from Transgender Writers.
Requisite: ENGL 226 Fiction Writing I. Admission with consent of the instructor. Limited to 15 students. Spring semester. Lecturer Sweeney.
